The secret Senate negotiations — which propose ending humanitarian parole and gutting our asylum system — are occurring without considering the Americans affected by proposed restrictions [“Parole issue complicates Ukraine-for-border deal,” news, Jan. 11].

Last year, Texas sued the Biden administration to block a parole program that allows people in the United States to sponsor individuals from certain countries. We went to court on behalf of seven inspiring Americans to defend parole. Parole has given them a rare opportunity to reunite with family and loved ones or simply support a global neighbor.
