In April of 2022, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as a pathway for Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members to seek temporary safety in the U.S. through humanitarian parole.
Through U4U, Americans of all political backgrounds have welcomed Ukrainians fleeing ongoing attacks from Russia. Through the kindness of their sponsors, these Ukrainians have found temporary sanctuary in the United States, becoming our neighbors, coworkers, and family members.
The Trump administration broke its promise to approximately 240,000 Ukrainians whose humanitarian parole was prematurely ended en masse by the termination of Uniting for Ukraine. Stripped of their legal status, this move condemns thousands of innocent Ukrainians to be sent back to unspeakable danger. The cruelty and chaos unleashed by this betrayal will ripple from each beneficiary to their sponsors, loved ones, employers, and communities, weakening the American economy.
President Trump can make this right, so we’re calling him day and night until he does.
