Justice Action Center’s Founder and Director Karen Tumlin released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the Trump administration to strip some Venezuelans of their Temporary Protected Status
“Today, the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration is allowed to strip some Venezuelans of their Temporary Protected Status, which amounts to the largest single de-legalization of a population in the modern era. A lower court had paused the deportation of these individuals, but in the Supreme Court’s “Shadow Docket” the administration could proceed with deportations before the case has been heard in the lower courts. And we know the administration will not stop there. They will continue to find ways to use the Supreme Court for mass deportations, leading to chaos. Many communities are at risk of losing their protections because of today’s decision.”
