FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Karen Tumlin, Founder and Director of Justice Action Center, responds to the Trump administration’s escalation against Los Angeles immigrant communities:
“Our hearts break for our immigrant neighbors and their loved ones across the city of Los Angeles who are being unjustly targeted by a presidential administration with a penchant for cruelty. We will add to the chorus of crystal clear voices saying that Los Angeles does not want any of this. We do not want ICE officers terrorizing elementary school kids and parents at their graduations. We don’t want our neighbors to be afraid to show up to work or go to the grocery store. We don’t want people to be ripped away from their loved ones and uprooted from the lives they have worked so hard to build.
“Make no mistake: regardless of whether the Trump administration believes it is above the law, we will work with our communities and in coalition to hold them accountable. Each person unjustly ripped from their families and communities and illegally denied their rights is a person whose story deserves to be told. We stand in solidarity with our partners on the ground who are fighting around the clock to give these people the dignity and due process they deserve.”
