Today, Justice Action Center (JAC) founder and director Karen Tumlin responded to a leaked draft opinion signaling that the Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
“Reproductive rights are immigrant rights. We know that if this draft ruling—which has not yet changed the law in Roe v. Wade—takes effect, low-income folks and BIPOC communities, including immigrants, will suffer the most. The Supreme Court must understand that bodily autonomy is a Constitutional right, which if infringed upon, would have deadly consequences. We urge the Supreme Court to uphold Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey so that people may retain sacred control over personal decisions that affect their lives and their bodies, with dignity.”
