JAC: A Copycat of H.R. 2, Nefarious Anti-Immigrant GOP Spending Proposal Must Not Pass

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Yesterday, Senate Republicans unveiled an anti-immigrant spending proposal. Vanessa Rivas-Bernardy, Counsel at Justice Action Center (JAC) issued the following statement:

“This extremist proposal aims to further decimate our asylum system, eviscerate the longstanding parole authority, and resurrect deadly deterrence policies like Remain in Mexico. The proposal seeks to allocate massive funding towards these inhumane and cruel measures that could otherwise resource border organizations continuing critical welcoming work in the absence of federal and local support.

As an organization engaged in litigation to defend humanitarian parole sponsors, and is at trial today representing direct service providers fighting for the rights of unaccompanied children, JAC vehemently opposes any and all efforts to further this harmful, politically motivated proposal.”

Justice Action Center (JAC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting for greater justice for immigrant communities by combining litigation and storytelling. JAC is committed to bringing additional litigation resources to address unmet needs, empower clients, and change the corrosive narrative around immigrants in the U.S. Learn more at justiceactioncenter.org and follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
